Postcards Home
An Interdisciplinary World Cultures Research Project

Greetings from the World Wide Web,

I've been surfing the 'net to make your research easier. Use the links embedded in this message to gather the information for your "Postcard Home". First, you will need to choose a vacation destination outside of the United States that you can fly to. Then you will need to purchase round trip plane tickets for a weekend vacation. Go for a trip and don't forget to "take" some pictures on your trip. You will also need to find out the currency exchange rate so that you will have some money to spend. While you are at it, you will need to know the weather conditions at your destination. In addition, I would like to know how far it is to your destination.
P.S.  How many flags can you identify on the left side of this page?

Your Assignment

Create a three-slide multimedia postcard about your trip using Google Documents Presentation.

1. It is a postcard souvenir, so the "front" (slide 1) should be mostly pictures with some text.

2. The "back" (slide 2) should contain your message. Make sure to gather all of the information listed above by writing a message that lets the instructor know that you have completed all of the tasks. For full credit, every detail will need to be included.

3. The card should be addressed to your classmates. It should also have a "stamp" on it, so it will arrive in a timely fashion. :) HINT: You can find stamps on google images!

4. The third slide should have a bibliography of where you collected any images. Make sure to follow the Quick How To: Cite of Source

5. Once you have completed the Postcard assignment, you will need to mail it off to your friends in the classroom using the Google Groups: spring09_ucb@googlegroups.com.

REMEMBER, if you get stumped on a Web page, don't forget to READ!
